Ocean City is just days away from one of the biggest events of the summer…the White Marlin Open! The annual tournament is a major event for our town and it just so happens to be the world’s largest bill fishing tournament. Over 300 boats typically participate in the five-day tournament, vying for over $2 million in prize money. For spectators, the event is equally as exciting with daily weigh-ins at the Harbour Island Marina on 14th Street. 4th of July is the quintessential summer holiday, especially when you live in a resort town that offers fireworks right over the beautiful beach, boardwalk and bay. We love 4th of July for so many reasons here at Tugos, most notably because the patriotic holiday gives us a reason to celebrate in our finest red, white and blue. Sunday marks the first day of summer, but here in Ocean City it’s been feeling like summer for the past few weeks with large crowds, hot (really hot) temperatures, and the return of some of our favorite summertime events. Last weekend, the beaches and boardwalk were overflowing with people eager to get a glimpse of the OC Air Show. Next week, Maryland Firefighters will roll into town for the Maryland State Firemen’s Association Convention. Signs of summer are popping up everywhere in Ocean City, MD, from the celebration of Springfest this past weekend, to the 80-degree temperatures, to the jam-packed boardwalk and beaches. Also on the horizon is the annual Crusin’ event, held each spring in OCMD. Spring has officially sprung here in OCMD, which means some of our favorite springtime events are on the horizon, including several fantastic philanthropic events held on the Ocean City Boardwalk. First up in our local events calendar is the 4th Annual Race for the Cure, scheduled for this Sunday, April 25. Each year, Komen Maryland holds several fundraising events, including the Race for the Cure in Ocean City.
