Now that the 4th of July has come and gone, summer is well underway. While some of you may be lamenting that summer is going by too quickly, at Pizza Tugos, we’re focusing on what each day of summer brings! In our opinion, summer is just getting started, which means that there is plenty of sunshine, fun, and summertime eats to be had. 4th of July is the quintessential summer holiday, especially when you live in a resort town that offers fireworks right over the beautiful beach, boardwalk and bay. We love 4th of July for so many reasons here at Tugos, most notably because the patriotic holiday gives us a reason to celebrate in our finest red, white and blue. Sunday marks the first day of summer, but here in Ocean City it’s been feeling like summer for the past few weeks with large crowds, hot (really hot) temperatures, and the return of some of our favorite summertime events. Last weekend, the beaches and boardwalk were overflowing with people eager to get a glimpse of the OC Air Show. Next week, Maryland Firefighters will roll into town for the Maryland State Firemen’s Association Convention. And in just two short weeks, we will all collectively join in the Fourth of July celebrations! Phew that’s a lot happening in and around Ocean City. This weekend, families will gather at the beaches downtown (Dorchester Street) for the annual Beach 5 Sand Soccer Tournament! If you’ve driven past our Tugos location on Route 50 in the past few weeks, then you have probably noticed some serious work being done along the roof of the restaurant. Well, we are proud to announce that our rooftop tiki bar is officially open for business! Of course this calls for a major celebration, so we’ve decided to celebrate all week long with food and drink specials. Can you believe June is here?! We sure can’t, but we certainly aren’t complaining. June brings sunshine, beach weather, and a ton of awesome events to Ocean City, but for recent high school grads, June means one thing…senior week! The Town of Ocean City and the Play It Safe program team up each year in an effort to provide an eclectic mix of safe and fun events for the June Grads to enjoy while visiting us in OCMD. Each year, we contribute to the initiative with specials and activities. This year, Pizza Tugos is partnering with Play It Safe and holding three Pizza Eating Contests for the June Grads/Senior Week crowd.
