Last weekend was admittedly a little chilly and cloudy for our liking, but this weekend’s forecast is calling for nothing but clear skies, sunshine, and temperatures averaging in the mid-80s. Shortly stated, it’s looking like a perfect beach weekend here in OCMD…and just in time for the annual OC Beach Ultimate Frisbee Tournament! The tournament will be held Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16 from 9am until 5pm on the beach at Somerset Street in downtown Ocean City, with a special showcase game at 6pm on Saturday evening. Over 30 teams will compete in the Elite or Open divisions over the weekend, vying for the championship title. Calling all artists! Plein Air in OC is upon us, which means artists from all over will descend upon our resort town to paint our beautiful landscape and unique beach life for the annual event. The 2015 Artists Paint OC event brings artist to the streets, boardwalk, harbors, bays, and even right here to Pizza Tugos to paint ‘en plein air,’ which means outdoors, directly from life. Ocean City is just days away from one of the biggest events of the summer…the White Marlin Open! The annual tournament is a major event for our town and it just so happens to be the world’s largest bill fishing tournament. Over 300 boats typically participate in the five-day tournament, vying for over $2 million in prize money. For spectators, the event is equally as exciting with daily weigh-ins at the Harbour Island Marina on 14th Street. Major crowds turn out to watch as massive fish are hauled up onto the docks to be weighed. As the week goes on, excitement builds as the competition heats up. Definitely a must-see event for anyone in Ocean City!
